Books and music.
The band has been getting into the habit of going to used bookstores and music stores while on the road. I think Clint bought close to 20 books on this tour (no joke). I picked up Faith Of My Fathers by Chris Seay (not really recommended unless you personally know a member of the Seay family) and Sex God by Rob Bell (haven’t had a chance to start that one). I also have been reading my...
End of tour.
What a great tour. Thanks to all of you who came out to the concerts. Florida even had the common decency to not be suffocatingly humid. We can’t wait to come back and join you again!

Recorded some background vocals on “Long Have I Heard” for The Road Sessions Vol. 2 in Gainesville yesterday afternoon. Very exciting. It’s Clint’s tune, and is the rocker of this batch. Vol. 1 here.
Disordered heart.
The Keller quote in the previous post perfectly describes my inner life, my disordered heart. The Gospel is the only thing that makes sense to me, the only thing that keeps me sane. And even then, it’s like looking at land while being pulled under by a riptide. I gasp for air and look directly at it, but the salt water burns my eyes.
The real culture war is taking place inside our own disordered hearts, wracked...

The Very Exciting Life Of A Rock And Roll Band On The Road
Jesus, thank you for Tom Petty. I mean it.
And Mike Campbell too, Lord. Incredible new song from the new Tom Petty record, made with his old band Mudcrutch. “Scare Easy”
On to Georgia.
Got up at 5 AM Central and took the van to Firestone to get a coil and spark plug replaced (a problem we noticed, with grave concern, on our drive to Chattanooga). Georgia, here we come.

I am so sure of myself.
“Many of the beliefs of our grandparents and great-grandparents now seem silly and even embarrassing to us. That process is not going to stop now. Our grandchildren will find many of our views outmoded as well.” — Timothy Keller, The Reason For God (pg 112)

Me: I'll start a new blog.
